In today's world, we all try to do what we can to be a little more environmental friendly. Whether or not you believe in global warming or other environmental issues, it's always nice to be able to reduce waste and save a little money when purchasing equpment for your home or office.

Although the UPS market isn't typically one that people would think about when "Green" comes to mind, everyone is doing their part. APC is producing a line of power-saving UPSs that shut down non-essentials when not in use. This is fantastic for computer peripherals.

You can do your part in one of three ways:

1. Consider replacing the batteries in your old UPS as an alternative to a new UPS. Changing the batteries in your unit every 2-3 years is good practice in keeping the UPS running correctly and keeping your equipment protected. Of course, NEVER throw spent batteries in the garbage. They should always be properly recycled. By purchasing replacement batteries instead of a new unit, you save on shipping, waste, delivery, and extra packaging.

2. Buying reconditioned instead of new is also a great way to go. Sometimes a UPS is beyond repair or you just need to upgrade. Buying a reconditioned UPS is an environmentally and economically friendly decision. By purchasing a pre-owned UPS, you can prevent as much as 150lbs of scrap metal, plastic, and wiring from entering our landfills. Plus, you can save up to 90% on protecting your valuable equipment.

3. Selling/trading your old equipment is another great way to save you money and preserve our environment. While we are not always buying all equipment, we would be happy to consider your used UPS as a trade. Contact one of our representatives for more information.
